Project Approach

Relationships

The most rewarding aspect of providing consulting services is the relationships that are built over time with the many people that are involved in each project. Many of our clients take the long term approach to project design because they are the long term owner of the property or because of their long term commitment to the community. Their relationships with their professional consultants are based on personal trust and confidence in the technical abilities of those individuals.

The technical work we provide our clients is only a small portion of the many issues and factors they must address every day. As a consultant it is essential that we understand the clients’ long term needs and expectations and evaluate our work on that basis. This requires a design approach that is not based on the minimum agency standards but on our client’s long term project costs and liabilities.

Qualifications

For a project to be successful, the consultant must bring both technical expertise and field experience to the design process. Our key personnel not only have the proper formal training but also have built upon that with continuing education and hands on field experience with constructed projects.

WestSound Engineering, Inc. has maintained a professional and cordial relationship with regulating agencies. We have an established working knowledge of the storm drainage regulations, agency staff, and the permit processing for each agency that has jurisdiction over storm drainage control. These include Kitsap, Mason, Pierce, and Jefferson Counties; Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife; Washington State Department of Ecology; Washington State Department of Transportation; and the Washington State Department of Health.

Close working relationships with our sub-consultants have allowed WestSound Engineering, Inc. to manage complex projects successfully. We have a track record of project success with geotechnical, wetland, structural, traffic, land surveying, and landscape sub-consultants.

Personal Attention

Clients have found a distinct advantage in working with a smaller firm whose principal owner is also their project manager with over 20 years of design experience. Having a principal owner directly involved in the project guarantees that the client will receive the attention and priority needed for project success. With an experienced project manager, projects will be effectively managed from conceptual planning through project construction.
